It’s that time of year now, especially since it snowed IN OCTOBER that we all have to start gearing up to buy the obligatory annual winter coat. Years ago, I went to New York and ended up buying a bargain basement long puffa jacket from H&M because it was so cold, and it’s proved to be a God send. It’s seen its last day though, and I’m on the look-out for a replacement.
According to fashion blog Fashion Style for You, your winter coat needs to tick the following boxes: warmth (an absolute must if, like me, you seem to be permanently freezing); practicality (you need this when you lock yourself out and have to manoeuvre yourself through the kitchen window); and comfort (why would you buy an uncomfortable coat?).
For me, when it is that cold and I am stood on the terraces watching sport, I don’t actually care what I look like as long as I’m warm. I am also acutely aware that a long puffa coat is not necessarily suitable attire for a day in the office. So if you are a slave to the 9 to 5, The womens suit wearing community will probably have to buy two coats. Oh the hardship!
New Look has a wide selection of coats in their women’s clothing range, so I thought I would have a quick nosey on your behalf. A gorgeous funnel neck coat in black for £50 would be perfect to wear over smart clothing or even if you dare a white version. As for me, there is a nice faux fur trimmed duffle coat, but it might not be long enough to cover my bottom (essential criteria).
I did find a long quilted puffer coat at Burberry, which would be perfect and an equally lush one from Juicy Couture, but its white and even though the first time I wear it I will look wintery and snowy and all things cosy and elegant, I do know that after 5 minutes I will have dropped my hot chocolate down it. I think i’ll continue my search online as the selection is greater and I can usually get a better deal!
