We all do it. We turn up at the hairdressers clutching pictures of exactly how we want our hair to be, without giving any thought as to whether these designs can be delivered. Instead we believe hairdressers to have a magical ability to make us look like Kate Moss with her latest “do”.

Having a new and funky hairstyle can take off years and add boundless confidence. Jennifer Aniston, of course, is famous for spearheading the “Rachel”, a craze which swept the globe. Described by stylists as “bouncy, layered and an angled shag”. I say! Jen was certainly a trend setter.

Posh Spice is also another leader of the pack; I would buy a paper purely to see what style she is sporting today. However, like clothing, choosing a hair style that suits the shape of your face is paramount.

If you are lucky enough to be blessed with an oval face, practically everything will look fantastic on you, except perhaps having a heavy fringe which tends to make your gorgeous oval shape disappear! If you have got it, flaunt it.

I have a long face, so I go for short to medium lengths with wispy fringes to add width and shorten the length of my face. And then I cover it up with my winter hat in order to brave the outside …
